I have oily/combination/acne-prone skin. As in, if I wash my face, then before noon, I need to blot it again.

For the longest time, I always thought that stripping away the oils would be better for my face and there was no need to moisturize since my face had oils already and that if I put more moisturizer, then that would defeat the purpose and make my skin feel greasy.

However, after doing some research, I realised that oily skin occurs because your sebaceous glands (oil glands) overcompensate the dry skin by producing more oil. Can you see the Catch-22 here?

When I went to Kiehl’s, (who are amazinggggg – the staff is beyond friendly, give you tons of samples to try and make sure that you know everything about your skin and what the products do), the skin specialist told me the exact same thing. That I needed to moisturize my skin otherwise my glands would overcompensate. After asking me if I had a hydrating mask (which I didn’t) and when I prefer to put my products (I’m a lazy girl, so I opted on a mask I could sleep in), she handed me this.

Now, first off, Kiehl’s makes their products worth their money. This tub was full. Over-the-brim full. I definitely got my money’s worth of product. Secondly, this product is amazing! Granted, it does take a while to dry up after putting it on. I recommend applying it to your face about an hour before you hit the sheets. I woke up the next morning with the most hydrated and plumped up face I’ve ever seen! I LOVE IT! And ladies with oily skin, this made my glands produce less oil i.e. less blotting throughout the day!!

So my friend Trishna is such a cutie pie and sent me her OOTD, which I’m absolutely in LOVE with. It’s already chilly in the states, so obviously she has to bundle up to stay warm.

Let me know what your fall outfits are!

I attended the Indian Women’s Association Diwali Lunch on Friday wearing my stunning Pankaj and Nidhi Anarkali.

The suit is a button down Anarkali that opens from the waist down. Made with intricate gold embroidery, I thought it would be something bright to wear for such an event.

I paired this with Pearl Bali earrings to add enhance and compliment the embroidery.

So I don’t usually wear makeup, mainly because my skin is oily and acne prone and I want my skin to breathe. I do sometimes however, apply a BB Cream when I’m looking for more coverage.

Today, we had some guests come into our office, and I decided to dress up for a change (although, I feel like I dress up for casual Fridays).

A couple of things about me is that I’m extremely lazy. I’d rather sleep in the extra 5 mins than get ready. So, my makeup routine for today took less than 10 minutes!

What’s your 10 minute makeup?

I’ve been looking for a cream blush for summer that I liked and I swear the Beauty Gods heard me because Clinique came out with the “Chubby Stick Moisturizing Cheek Colour Balm”. It looks like their chubby lipstick and can I just tell you how much I love this? I bought it in the shade “Amp’d up Apple”.

This is such a beautiful colour which gives me that perfect natural flush. I think this is one of those colours that will look good on every skin tone. It can be built up depending on how intense you want your blush to look.

I like to dab it a couple of times on my cheek and then smudge it out with my fingers rather than a brush to give a more natural look. If you are looking for a cream blush or a blush that is more moisturizing, this one will be your go-to!

Plus, it’s the perfect size to drop into your purse and you don’t need any additional tools!

So my friend came into town for a layover and I was so excited to see her after such a long time! I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to whip out my muscle tee and my hat to enjoy the sun!

As you can see, I was the one trying to style her with my oh-so-lovely hat for her close up.
